- ต้องตามหลัง possessive adjective (my, your, his, her, its, their, our) เช่น
– It’s nice if she can have her own room. (ไม่ใช่ It’s nice if she can have an own room.) - การใช้ own โดยไม่ต้องตามด้วย noun ก็ทำได้เช่นกัน ถ้าความหมายที่ต้องการสื่อสารนั้นชัดเจนอยู่แล้ว เช่น
A: Would you like to use my car to travel around the city?
B: No, thanks. I can only drive my own (car). ความหมายชัดเจนอยู่แล้วว่าหมายถึงรถของฉันเอง - on one’s own รูปแบบนี้ใช้บ่อยนะคะเป็นสำนวน แปลว่า “ด้วยตัวของเขาเอง”
My friend has lived on her own since she studied in the university.
Do not need to help him. He can do it on his own. - own เป็นคำกริยาได้ด้วยแปลว่า “เป็นเจ้าของ” เช่น
